A combo session pairs a hands-on treatment with a warm-water float in a single appointment. One arrival, one nap worked around, two therapies. Most run 60 minutes, for babies from 1 month to 3 years.
Getting one baby out of the house is hard enough
If your little one needs hands-on care and you would also like them to have a float, you can now do both in one visit rather than two trips, two car seat battles, and two naps to plan around.
Two members of our team see your child in the same appointment. You arrive once and leave when it is done.
What actually happens in a combo
For osteopathy and physiotherapy combos, the hands-on session comes first. There is a reason for the order: a baby is most alert and most tolerant of handling at the start of a visit, which is when an assessment is most useful. The float comes second, and most babies leave settled and heavy-eyed.
The massage combo runs the other way round, float first. Infant massage uses organic oils, and oil cannot go into the tub.
Your baby is in the water for about 20 minutes, inside a 30 minute float slot that leaves time to get changed, settled and dried without rushing. Every baby floats in fresh water: our tubs are plumbed to hot and cold supply and drain, so each tub is emptied and refilled between babies and nothing is shared. No chlorine and no chemicals are added, and the water is held between 95 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit, close to body temperature.
The five combos
- Massage and float · 60 minutes · $105
RMT-led infant massage plus a float. The gentlest introduction to both, and our most booked session. - Baby osteopathy and float · 60 minutes · $125 first visit, $115 follow-up
Gentle, light-touch osteopathic care with our Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, then the tub. - Baby physiotherapy and float · 75 minutes first visit at $160, 60 minutes follow-up at $130
A first physiotherapy visit is a full 45 minute assessment, which is why that one runs longer.
Every combo costs less than booking the same two sessions apart, because the float is included at a reduced rate.
What baby osteopathy and physiotherapy help with
Parents most often come to us about a baby who turns their head one way and not the other, a flat spot developing on one side of the head, a baby who finds tummy time hard, or one who seems more comfortable feeding on one side than the other.
Physiotherapy tends to be where families start for gross motor milestones, rolling, sitting, crawling and walking, and for head-turning preference (torticollis) and flat head shape (plagiocephaly). Osteopathy is gentle, light-touch work that can support feeding comfort, general tension and movement.
Neither replaces your paediatrician or family doctor. If something about your baby's movement or comfort is worrying you, that conversation comes first.
Things you can try at home tonight
- Alternate which end of the crib you lay them down. Babies turn toward the room, so switching ends encourages them to look both ways.
- Change which arm you feed from, if you bottle feed. It is easy to settle into one side without noticing.
- Tummy time in small doses, often. A couple of minutes several times a day beats one long session that ends in tears. On your chest counts.
- Move the interesting thing. If your baby always looks left, put yourself, the window, or the toy on the right.
General positioning ideas, not treatment advice. They cost nothing and they are the sort of thing we would talk through at the end of a first visit anyway.
When it is worth booking
If you have noticed a head-turning preference that is not evening out, a flat spot that seems to be becoming more noticeable, tummy time that stays a struggle, or feeding that is comfortable on one side and not the other, an assessment is a reasonable next step.
Your physiotherapist or osteopath will tell you honestly whether anything needs doing. Sometimes the answer is that everything looks fine and you go home reassured, which is a perfectly good outcome.
Booking a combo
Combos are for babies from 1 month to 3 years and can be booked online. Massage and osteopathy combos are open to first visits. Physiotherapy has its own first-visit combo that includes the full assessment.
The treatment portion of every combo is insurance-eligible and receipted separately from the float, so your claim only ever shows the treatment.
