A first Halloween is mostly for the photos, the grown ups and the snacks. The baby has no idea. But a well-planned morning can still be pure fun for little ones, as long as it is short, gentle and built around nap time.
That is exactly what we have planned. On Saturday, October 31, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Dolphin Dive Baby Spa is hosting a Halloween Party for babies and toddlers aged 1 month to 5 years, here in London, Ontario. Below is everything you need to know about the party, plus a few tips for making a baby's first Halloween a happy one.
What is happening at the party
Two hours of not-too-spooky fun, all sized for tiny hands and short attention spans:
- Arts and crafts. A simple Halloween craft to make together and take home.
- Halloween story time. Cozy stories that are more giggle than fright.
- Music and dance floor. Halloween songs to wiggle, bounce and dance to.
- Scavenger hunt. A little hunt toddlers can do with you.
- Costume parade. Show off those costumes. Comfy pajamas count too.
- Pick fake apples. An apple-picking corner that is safe for little ones.
- Pumpkin patch. A mini patch, perfect for first-Halloween photos.
- Giveaways and prizes. A few surprises to take home.
A photographer will be there capturing the morning. Your booking form asks whether we may share photos of your child, and saying no is completely fine.
Tickets and prices
Party spot: $20 plus HST per child ($22.60 in total), booked and paid online.
Siblings: $15 plus HST each ($16.95 in total). Book your first child online, then call 226-984-8000 or email contact@dolphindivebabyspa.com and we will add each brother or sister at the sibling rate.
Grown ups: free, with no booking needed. A parent or caregiver stays with their child for the whole party.
There are only 20 spots, so we recommend booking early.
Tips for a baby's first Halloween
Choose comfort over cute. Soft, stretchy costumes or a themed sleeper beat anything with masks, tight hoods or lots of layers. Babies get warm quickly indoors, so a costume they can wear over a light onesie is ideal.
Plan around the nap. A morning event is easier for most babies and toddlers than an evening one. If your little one naps late morning, feel free to arrive a bit later or leave early. Nobody minds.
Skip anything they could swallow. Small costume pieces, buttons and loose accessories are a choking risk for babies and toddlers. Keep an eye on what little hands pick up, at the party and at home.
Keep it gentle. Loud noises and spooky masks can overwhelm young children. Our party keeps things cheerful and friendly, and you can always step out for a quiet minute.
Get the photo early. Costumes come off fast. Snap your pumpkin patch photo near the start, while everyone is still smiling.
Make it a Halloween week
If your family has older kids too, we are also running Halloween Family Yoga on Wednesday, October 28 from 6:00 to 6:45 PM. It is one playful class for the whole family, costumes welcome, at $25 plus HST per household.
