🫧 Frequently Asked Questions

Click any question to expand the answer.

Does cupping hurt?

Most people describe cupping as a firm pulling or stretching sensation rather than pain, and many find it deeply relaxing. Your therapist adjusts the suction to your comfort at every step, so speak up any time and it will be adapted for you.

Will I get marks, and how long do they last?

Cupping often leaves round marks where the cups sat. They are not bruises from impact, and they are usually painless. Marks typically fade within a few days to two weeks depending on your skin and the treatment. If you have an event coming up, let your therapist know and they can adjust placement or suction.

Is cupping covered by insurance?

Cupping at Dolphin Dive is performed by Registered Massage Therapists. Many extended health plans may cover it under their massage therapy benefits when performed by an RMT. Check your individual plan for details, and we are happy to provide receipts.

Can cupping be combined with massage?

Yes, and it is one of our favourite ways to use it. Your therapist can blend cupping with massage techniques in the same session, using cups on stubborn areas and hands-on work everywhere else.

Is cupping safe? Who should avoid it?

Cupping is generally well tolerated when performed by a trained professional. It may not be appropriate over broken or irritated skin, for people with certain blood or skin conditions, or in some stages of pregnancy. Your therapist reviews your health history before treatment, and if you are pregnant or managing a health condition, check with your healthcare provider first.

How should I prepare, and what about aftercare?

Come hydrated, avoid a heavy meal right before, and wear comfortable clothing. Afterwards, drink plenty of water, keep the treated areas warm, and go easy on intense exercise for the rest of the day.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your goals. Some people book cupping occasionally for recovery or relaxation, while others with persistent tension benefit from a short series. Your therapist will suggest a plan at your first visit, and you are never locked into anything.

Ready to release that tension?

Book a cupping session with our Registered Massage Therapists and give those tight shoulders the attention they have been asking for.

Cupping Therapy is a therapeutic technique that uses gentle suction cups placed on the skin to promote circulation, relieve muscle tension, and support overall relaxation and recovery.

This treatment helps to reduce pain, improve blood flow, release fascia restrictions, and encourage the body’s natural healing process. It is commonly used for back, neck, and shoulder tension, as well as general wellness and stress relief.

At Dolphin Dive Baby Spa & Wellness, cupping therapy is performed by trained professionals in a safe, clean, and relaxing environment, and may be combined with massage techniques for enhanced results.
