Traditional Thai Massage
in London, Ontario
Fully clothed, no oils, no table. Rhythmic compression and assisted stretching on a padded floor mat that leaves you loose and mobile rather than sleepy. Delivered by a Registered Massage Therapist, so your receipt is insurance-eligible.
Bodywork that moves you, not just presses on you
Thai massage has been practised for centuries and works differently from the massage most people picture. Instead of gliding strokes with oil, your therapist uses steady palm and thumb compression along the body’s energy lines, gentle joint mobilization, and assisted stretches that move your limbs through their range for you.
Think of it as someone doing the stretching on your behalf, with the pressure of a deep tissue massage layered underneath. Most people describe it as feeling opened up rather than melted, and walk out standing taller.
At Dolphin Dive it is delivered by a Registered Massage Therapist, which means a proper health history, a treatment plan, and a receipt your extended health plan can process.
Why people book Thai massage
Especially effective if you sit all day, lift a baby all day, or both.
Freer hips and hamstrings
The assisted stretches reach the deep hip and leg tissue that is hard to open on your own or from a table.
Deep pressure, no bruising ache
Sustained compression through the palms, thumbs, and forearms gets into tight tissue without the sharp dig of deep tissue work.
Better posture and length
Opening the chest, shoulders, and hip flexors counters the rounded-forward shape of phones, desks, feeding, and carrying.
Easier breathing
Work through the ribs, chest, and upper back frees the mechanics of a full breath, which often eases upper-body tension too.
Energised, not drowsy
Unlike an oil massage, most people leave feeling awake and mobile. It fits comfortably into the middle of a working day.
Straight back to your day
Nothing to undress for and nothing to wash off, so you can head to work, the school run, or the gym right afterwards.
Your session, step by step
Health history
Your RMT reviews your history, asks what is bothering you, and screens for anything that would make certain stretches unsuitable.
The session
You settle onto a padded floor mat and your therapist works through compression, mobilization, and assisted stretching, checking in with you as they go.
Afterwards
You get a claimable receipt and any simple take-home suggestions. Drink water and expect to feel loose and mobile for the rest of the day.
Two lengths, one clear rate
Both sessions are one-on-one with a Registered Massage Therapist and produce an insurance-eligible receipt.

Thai massage your benefits can cover
Most Thai massage in London is a spa service you pay for entirely yourself. Ours is registered massage therapy.
Your session is delivered by a Registered Massage Therapist registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. That means a full health history before any hands-on work, treatment notes on file, and a receipt your extended health plan can process.
Direct billing is available to most major insurers, so where your plan allows it you pay only your portion at the desk instead of paying in full and waiting to be reimbursed. Just let us know your provider when you book.
You do not need to be flexible
The tighter you are, the more you tend to notice. Every stretch stays inside your comfortable range.

Frequently asked questions
What should I wear?
Loose, comfortable clothing you can stretch in, such as leggings or joggers with a t-shirt. Avoid jeans, belts, and anything restrictive. You stay fully clothed for the entire session and no oils or lotions are used, so there is nothing to wash off afterwards. If you would rather have a table-based massage with oil, our therapeutic massage and hot stone sessions are the right fit and are booked separately.
Does Thai massage hurt?
It should not. The pressure is deep and the stretches are active, but everything stays within a range that is comfortable for you. Your therapist checks in throughout and adjusts on the spot. Tell them at any point if something is too much. Some people notice mild next-day soreness in areas that were very tight, similar to after a good stretch session.
Is Thai massage covered by insurance?
At Dolphin Dive, yes. Your session is delivered by a Registered Massage Therapist, so every appointment produces a receipt that extended health plans can process, and direct billing is available to most major insurers. This is unusual for Thai massage locally, since most Thai studios are staffed by practitioners who are not RMTs and cannot issue a claimable receipt. Massage therapy in Canada is not exempt from HST, so 13% is added to your session, and most plans reimburse the pre-tax amount.
How is it different from a regular massage?
A therapeutic or Swedish massage works into muscle with oil and gliding strokes while you lie still on a table. Thai massage moves you. Your therapist uses compression, joint mobilization, and assisted stretching on a padded floor mat rather than a table. If your main complaint is stiffness and restricted movement, Thai often suits better. If it is a specific knot or a sore muscle you want worked out, therapeutic massage may be the better choice.
Can I book Thai massage while pregnant?
No. Thai massage involves deep compression and assisted stretching that is not appropriate during pregnancy, so we do not offer it to pregnant clients. Our prenatal massage is designed for exactly this and is booked separately. Thai massage is a good one to come back for after your postpartum recovery, once your care provider is happy for you to do so.
Is there anyone who should avoid it?
Thai massage may not be suitable if you have recent surgery, acute injury, osteoporosis, joint instability or hypermobility, uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart conditions, or a history of blood clots. Because your session is with an RMT, we take a full health history before any hands-on work and will tell you honestly if a different treatment would serve you better.
How often should I come?
Most people feel a difference after a single session. If you are working on long-standing tightness, a session every two to three weeks for the first couple of months tends to hold the change better than a one-off, then settling into a monthly maintenance visit. Your therapist will give you a realistic suggestion after your first appointment.
